Get Ready for– DECISION FATIGUE!

Hello you beautiful bookish fiends you! My dear Sleepy Sam Reads tagged me in a brilliant and twisty bookish version of This or That, which she originally saw on Rain’s blog and I’m glad she did because it has been a while since I’ve been tagged! So, thank you my dear! I will be adding one question at the end (shhh…) I can’t stick to the college themed week that everyone else is celebrating but just remember, as we get this party started…..

1. Series or standalone?
I like both. I love a fantastic series, don’t get me wrong. Sometimes you just don’t ever want the right series to end. However, I also like a good stand alone. Sometimes you just need a few good stand alones, especially when you are waiting just in between books in a series. Or a really fantastic series just ended and you need a couple or five stand alones before you are ready to invest in a series again.
2. Magic Earned or Magic Born?
How about magic owned or magic wanted? I love that moment in a book when someone owns their magic. Its like Luke and the force or Jesper (shut up) being a Grisha. I love when they have always had it but have to earn it/own it. That is one of the most fantastic parts of any book is when a character finally steps up and owns any special talent/power or magic and hits a home-run. Just because you are born with it doesn’t mean you cand do anything with it. And even if you earn it– maybe that’s the same as owning it. But it isn’t the same as wanting it, necessarily. Maybe it is semantics. I have to think on it.
3. Enemies to lovers or friends to lovers?
Neither. There is entirely too much romance in books. Why do they have to become either? Why can’t enemies become friends, partners? Why cant friends become partners? Avengers? Why does always have to go mushy?
4.Hilarious Banter or Emotional Ruin?
Both as long as by emotional ruin we aren’t talking about the entaglement of #3 and/or #5
5. Love triangle or insta love
See #3… unless its done like Six of Crows. I could swallow that because it was such a back drop to the main plot and so NOT mushy and just anti fluff. OH! Also, if Adam Silvera is writing it I’m there with bells on singing clang clang clang went the trollies.
6. Keyboard smash names or names that all start with the same letters?
I always taught kids not to worry about names. As long as you know who they are, why they are important and say it the same throughout the story, don’t let it trip you up.
7. Mean parents or dead parents?

I only have one answer for this.

8.Supermodel looks or constantly saying how “plain” they are?
I think it would be real refreshing to have friends who admitted yes I know it sucks life is easier for me because I’m prettier but what do you want me to do about it? Go get hit by a bus? Can I get judged on the inside to? I still want to be your friend and do good things in the world? And no I don’t know how you feel because you don’t look like me but that doesn’t mean I don’t care and won’t be here for you and love you just the same. Can you try not to judge me and do the same?
When’s the last time we saw that in a book? Just a thought… do with it what you like.
9) Face on cover or typography on cover?
Typography and some wicked cool kick-butt designs for sure. I hate cheesy looking people unless its artwork drawn (like The Hate you Give, Dear Martin or They Both Die at The End, Dread Nation or The Belles… those were cool).
10) Villian turning a little good or hero turning a little bad?
No one is Frodo or Sauron. Let’s face it. Game of Thrones is much more realistic in this aspect. We are all evil and good in our own ways. How could you love Kaz if you couldn’t understand all his complications. Inej is no angel either- none of them is. No Wyland, not even you my dear. None of them are all good or all bad. Scythe and Thunderhead’s moral philosophy centers on it and it is RIVETING. I say all this to say I like it the more complicated the better (as long as it stays true to the character and the story and doesn’t just free-wheel and stop making sense.
11) Best friend dies or love dies?
I don’t like the whole thing because either way it gets predictable. The two remaining start dating. Ick.
12) Awesome writing with a dull plot or amazing plot with murderously bad writing?
You’d have to give me an example. But I’m leaning towards amazing plot with murderously bad plot if you mean like structure and grammar.
13) Cliffhanger ending or heartbreaking ending?
Series always have cliff hangers and and any good writer is never going to give you exactly what you want.
14) Breaking the spine or dog-earing the pages?
Don’t you people have bookmarks? Or pieces of paper? Or something? STOP THE BOOK ABUSE. Maybe its because I have so many library books.
15) ‎“Bad boy” trope or “perfect golden boy” trope as the love interest?
I want the bad boy trope to kill the golden boy trope so there is no love interest 🙂
16) Here’s the question I’m adding: Are you more like Alexander Hamilton or Aaron Burr, sir?
