I am way too excited to have the chance to do a WWW Wednesday. It has been way too long!
With that…. WWW works really simple. I’m tagging back to Colleen’s Conclusions cause I saw it in my email first this morning.
What is WWW Wednesday? You just make a post and answer three simple questions :
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you plan on reading next?
What are you currently reading?
Sweet Ghezen, as Jesper Fahey would say…. I wish I could remember who was the blogger that said if you loved Six of Crows you have to read The Lies of Locke Lamora. I’m now 85 pages in and I really think they got it right… and no one EVER gets this right! Ok, here’s a spoiler, the Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi got it right so look out for that in January (and a review from me closer to the release date after I catch up from having slept through September).
What did you recently finish reading?
In terms of “recently” not a whole lot but if I give myself some slack (but definitely post adderrall)?
(Don’t) Call Me Crazy- I didn’t review it because it just hit too close to home but it is a home run must read for everyone. Maybe that is a cop out but right now I just have to be careful with rewiring my brain and overall circuitry while the doctors fix everything.
Gilded Wolves – I mentioned it above. I will write the review closer to the publishing date or when I get caught up from my backlog. No spoilers here but I will say this. The hype is real if you like heists and hi-jinx? Buckle up.
Dry – My review is linked. What makes Dry so brilliant is that it doesn’t hold back. It hits hard. Without spoiling anything specific, the Shusterman boys don’t hide from the harsh realities of humanity lost. We all like to think we know what we would do, how we would act in these kinds of situations. The truth is until we are in that situation, we don’t know what we will do or who we will become. Until our lives, our loved ones lives are on the line. Until it is literally life or death. Your life or someone else’s life? You don’t know what you are going to do. Dry was dedicated “to all those struggling to undo the disastrous effects of climate change”. It was meant to send a message. For 360 pages it sent that message loud and clear.
What are you reading next?
This is a little hard for me to answer. There are two books that are definite. Beyond that I have to be careful. While I’m rewiring my brain I can’t always hold to ARC deadlines. I have to read things that really catch me. I had no plans on starting a 700 page book that was published ten years ago but it has an audible so I can read along (which is how I’m rewiring). My brain doesn’t complain about fatigue as much this way. SO… I went with it.
However, FIRST WITHOUT A DOUBT: my love and my Gomez’s (if you don’t know the story… see the picture below. Apparently, Gomez finished reading Odd One Out before I did. He was reading while I slept.) love Nic Stone has a new book out Tuesday called Odd One Out. I have already checked out the audio book and have the ARC. So that is definitely next. I CAN’T WAIT TO READ IT.
After that I’m 99.9% sure will be Everless by Sara Holland because I’ve wanted to read it for ages but had too many ARCs in front of it. Then somehow I ended up with an ARC of the sequel Evermore(I appreciate it, believe me. Just shocked is all). So now I have an excuse and an audiobook from hoopla… so there you go!
Third, I really want to read Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte I’ve picked this book up multiple times to start it. I’ve told the author I’ve started it and I did and then it got interrupted… by doctors, by life, by all kinds of unfair things that had nothing to do with the book. Now it is going to be up to my maligned brain whether or not it lets me read it without having an audio book or not to read along. I might have to wait a bit longer. I hope not and I’m going to seriously try. I’m really excited to read it. Plus Astrid Scholte is super sweet and super witty. If you don’t follow her on twitter and haven’t checked this book out (it comes out on December, go give it and her a look up on twitter and Amazon)! It might be another one that gets close to Gilded Wolves.
Thanks for the tag! The meme photo had the credit of the meme, but I did forget to specifically tag her. (It’s been a long week.) Sam at Taking on the worlds I believe is the creator of the meme, not me. I just wanted to say that! 🙂 I haven’t read Everless yet but want to sometime. It’ll just be awhile before I do.
Ah! Sorry about cutting off the meme creator. I just tagged back to you since you were who I saw post the WWW first in my notifications this week. Thanks for letting me know. If she comes screaming send her my way to apologize. I’m still learning all the etiquette things. I feel horrid about not remembering the blog that recommend Lies of Locke Lamora :/
Yeah Everless has been checked out from the library for like 6 months now… and it is finally getting read because Evermore comes out in Dec and I still am not sure how that ARC got dropped in my lap. I will never understand how I get denied for little titles and then ARCs like Evermore, Gilded Wolves, Dry, Odd One Out, Wicked King etc get dropped in my lap. It is bizarre. Anyhow, I woke up about two weeks ago and there it was in my email. Freaked me out because I knew I hadn’t been able to read let alone write anything since Blade So Black :/.
Anyhow you are welcome for the tag… thank you for the follow! 🙂 It has been a long week and it is only Wednesday. Sheesh. We’ll get through it. Brick by Brick- Kaz. 😉
